Hutton Reserve Chardonnay 2025

These Hutton wines always offer so much. There’s power and intensity with great fruit concentration, but they are impeccably crafted, so there’s a degree of elegance and stylishness about them. This one comes from the very good ’25 vintage in Margaret River. It opens with some nice subtle savoury, lemony quince paste notes on the nose, and just a faint hint of struck match complexity. The palate is powerful and controlled by excellent oak and integration, with a distinctive chalky, savoury combination and a precise acidity holding the line through to a very long finish.

This is tighter and more contained than previous releases but it will be stunner in time. It tastes of peach, citrus, custard powder, thyme and cedarwood, with whispers of nougat, cashew and flint rising up and then diving straight back into the heart of the wine. The length here is super, the texture spot on; it needs extra bottle time for the wine overall to settle and bloom, but the structure and flavour profile here are gorgeous.

A captivating Chardonnay with precision and alluring complexity; the enticing bouquet reveals ripe nectarine, grapefruit, subtle vanilla, oatmeal, and fine oak aromas. The concentrated palate delivers outstanding focus and depth, enhanced by a seamless mouthfeel and perfectly pitched acidity, leading to an impressively long, structured finish. The wine combines power and finesse with layers of seductive flavours. At its best: 2029 to 2042.
